Our Story

Messenger Bird Collective (MBC) is an Indigenous Engagement Consultancy providing advisory and consulting services to corporate, community and government organisations. Services include research & ethics, Reconciliation Action Plan development, strategy development, Indigenous employment strategy development and strategic communications.

With passion, understanding and commitment, every detail is considered in weaving together a community that supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within the overarching structure in Australia.

Messenger Bird Collective cultivate authentic human connections to gain an intimate understanding of our clients’ challenges. This allows us to offer thoughtful and impactful solutions that prioritise the expressed needs and well-being of the community that we serve.

MBC is founded by Tiffanie Ireland, a Kamilaroi woman who’s vision is to build a community that supports Indigenous people in building a better system for future generations. The name Messenger Bird Collective is inspired by her love of birds, and a spiritual connection with them, where they have guided her in making important decisions in life and are everyday visitors to her home.

Tiffanie Ireland is a proud Kamilaroi woman with strong family connections to Barraba and Gunnedah in North-western NSW. With 16 years of experience in Indigenous engagement, project management, stakeholder management, and strategic communications across government, corporate, and community sectors, Tiffanie has become a respected operator in her field.

As a Co-Founder and Co-Director of a 100% Indigenous owned and operated consultancy, Tiffanie has cultivated a diverse range of skills and knowledges. Over the past five years, she has spearheaded the development of the Research, Ethics, Evaluation, RAP Audit, and community and stakeholder Engagement division, leading a diverse team that has supported major organisations in Australia, including Google, KPMG, AGL, TikTok, SEEK, and Microsoft. Notably, she also led a groundbreaking national study on Indigenous leadership in ASX100 organisations in partnership with the University of NSW and the formulation of an Indigenous Community Engagement Strategy for a cultural site of national significance.

Prior to starting her consultancy Tiffanie held Senior Manager roles in Indigenous Engagement, Arts, and Community Partnerships at Qantas and Westpac, where she made a significant impact in promoting Indigenous inclusion and representation.

Tiffanie's academic background includes a Bachelor of Media and Communications with a major in Journalism and a minor in Aboriginal Studies from the University of Wollongong.
